Custom Commissions

A Painting Made Just for You

There is something different about owning a piece of art that was made specifically for you and your family. It is not just a print you picked off a shelf. It is a painting that holds your story, your faces, your faith, and the people you love most in this world, all woven together with the kind of meaning that only custom artwork can carry.

Kerri Guthrie has been creating custom commissions for families, individuals, and churches for years. Each piece starts as a conversation and ends as something deeply personal. Whether you are looking for a family portrait surrounded by guardian angels, a memorial piece honoring someone who has passed, or a personalized work of religious art for your home or church, Kerri brings the same care and devotion to every commission she takes on.

What Kerri Creates

Kerri's commissions center around the themes she knows best: angels, divine protection, family, and faith. Here are some of the types of work she most commonly accepts:

  • Custom family angel paintings with your family members depicted alongside guardian angels
  • Personalized religious art based on specific scriptures, hymns, or spiritual experiences
  • Memorial and remembrance pieces for loved ones who have passed through the veil
  • Couple portraits with heavenly guardians for weddings, anniversaries, or gifts
  • Church or community art for congregations and gathering spaces

If your idea does not fit neatly into one of those categories, reach out anyway. Kerri is always open to hearing what people have in mind, and some of her best work has come from ideas she never would have thought of on her own.

The Robertson Family: A Commission Story

One of the most beautiful examples of Kerri's commission work is the Robertson Family painting. The Robertson family came to Kerri wanting a piece that reflected their family's faith and the spiritual protection they felt in their daily lives. They wanted to see their family together, surrounded by the angels they believed watched over them.

Kerri worked closely with the family over several weeks, gathering photos, hearing their stories, and understanding what mattered most to them. The finished painting shows each family member with their own guardian angel, and the response from the Robertson family when they first saw the completed piece was something Kerri still talks about. That kind of reaction is exactly why she does this work.

If you want to see the painting, you can view it on the Robertson Family artwork page.

Kerri's Commission Process

Getting a custom piece from Kerri is straightforward. She keeps things simple because the focus should be on the art, not on paperwork. Here is how it works:

Step 1: Consultation. You reach out through the contact form or email Kerri at kerrikreations@gmail.com. Tell her what you are imagining. It does not need to be a fully formed idea. Even a rough sense of what you want is enough to start the conversation. Kerri will ask questions, share suggestions, and help you shape the vision together.

Step 2: Concept and Sketch. Once you have agreed on the direction, Kerri will create an initial concept sketch. This gives you a sense of the composition, the figures, and the overall feeling of the piece before she commits hours of work to the final painting. You will have the chance to give feedback and request changes at this stage.

Step 3: Painting. With the sketch approved, Kerri moves into the full painting phase. She works in digital painting, building up layers of light, color, and detail. This is where the piece truly comes alive. Depending on the complexity, this stage can take anywhere from two to six weeks.

Step 4: Review and Revisions. Before finalizing, Kerri will share the completed draft with you. If anything needs adjusting, this is the time to say so. She includes one round of revisions in every commission to make sure you are completely happy with the result.

Step 5: Printing and Delivery. The final painting is printed on premium archival paper, the same museum-quality material used for all of Kerri's work. It arrives ready to frame, and it will hold its color and detail for decades. Kerri ships nationwide, or you can pick up locally from her studio in South Jordan.

Pricing

Every commission is different, so Kerri does not post fixed prices online. The cost depends on the complexity of the piece, the number of figures, the size you want, and the amount of detail involved. She is always upfront about pricing and will give you a clear quote during the consultation stage so there are no surprises.

Kerri has worked with families across a range of budgets. If you have a number in mind, let her know. She is happy to discuss what is possible within your budget and find a way to create something meaningful regardless of the price point.

Timeline

Most commissions take between 4 and 8 weeks from the initial consultation to final delivery. Simpler pieces with fewer figures might come in closer to the 4-week mark, while larger family portraits or more detailed compositions may take the full 8 weeks or occasionally longer.

If you have a deadline in mind, such as a birthday, anniversary, or holiday, let Kerri know as early as possible. She does her best to accommodate timelines, but she will always be honest with you about whether a deadline is realistic given the work involved.

What information do I need to provide for a commission?

To get started, share your vision for the piece, including who you would like depicted, any specific themes or scripture references, and the size you are thinking.
